A Household Manager is also referred to as an Estate Manager, Butler or Major Domo. This person is responsible for the daily tasks that go along with insuring the smooth operation of the employer's residence(s). This person manages hiring, training and scheduling of household staff, interviewing, selecting and supervising all outside contractors, managing household accounts, and all other duties that make the employers life's as free of complications as possible. This includes, but is not limited to; booking travel, running errands, coordinating special events and managing the household calendar. A household manager may or may not have formal training, but more than likely has worked in a related professional setting or position as a Household Manager.


  The salary for a Household Manager will vary depending on the amount of experience and education that a candidate brings into a position, and the hours and duties that are included in the position. The average Household Manager typically earns between $35,000 to $85,000 plus benefits.
